Oregon Football 2025 Season Preview: Too Early Predictions, Odds, and Schedule

Things were almost going well for the Oregon soccer team in its debut season in the Big Ten. But then things went wrong when the team lost 41-21 to rival Ohio State in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.

Head coach Dan Lanning will have to piece together a Ducks team that returns a potential rising star at quarterback and top-five recruits, but will have to replace most of the players on both sides of the ball to have another shot at the title.

We'll cover it all in our 2025 season preview with predictions, odds, schedules and transfer portal updates.

Oregon State soccer title odds 2025
Real-time updated soccer odds from our top soccer betting sites.

We're still waiting on odds for next year's College Football Playoff opener, but Oregon has to be among the favorites after taking the top spot in the inaugural 12-game College Football Playoff - even after such a brutal loss in the quarterfinals.

The Ducks were given +1200 on the Ducks last season, and they responded by winning the regular season, winning the Big Ten in their first year in the conference. That included a thrilling victory over Ohio State in their first duel as conference rivals, though the rematch will leave a bitter taste in bettors' mouths.

This defeat will undoubtedly scare off some early bettors, but we still expect Oregon to enter next season with similar odds to win the championship with a revamped roster.

Despite the departure of Heisman Trophy finalist Dillon Gabriel after a year at Oregon, former recruit Dante Moore, who transferred from UCLA before last season, will take the reins. He'll bring back a rising star in tight end Kenyon Sadick and young wideouts Justice Lowe and Jeremiah McClellan.

The Ducks will also return top pass-backer Matayo Uiagalelei, who led the team with 10.5 sacks in 2024. Linebacker Devon Jackson should return to the starting lineup along with Jerry Mixon, who has gotten rave reviews in practice as a future star in Eugene.

Jabbar Muhammad, CB (graduating)
Nikko Reed, CB (graduating)

Gabriel is the top name to leave in 2025, though the Ducks could also be without their top three offensive linemen and top four pass-catchers from last season, depending on which players enter the NFL Draft in 2025. They will also have to change three starters on the offensive line if left guard Josh Conerly Jr. turns pro.

The team's defense will have new faces at all three levels after winning 13 games last year, relying on a stellar senior-laden roster. Derrick Harmon, Jordan Burch, Jabbar Muhammad and Jeffrey Bass should hear their names called in April, but the Ducks will have a crop of young stars to replace them.

2,025 recruits who transferred to Oregon
Dakorien Moore, WR (No. 4 in the country, No. 2 in Texas)
Naeem Offord, CB (No. 10 nationally, No. 1 AL)
Brandon Finney, CB (No. 28 nationally, No. 1 MD)
Trey McNutt, S (No. 29, No. 2 OH)
Dorian Brew, CB (#50 nationally, #12 TX)
Douglas Utu, OT (No. 72, No. 1 NV)
Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele, CB (No. 92 nationally, No. 1 HI)
Ziyare Addison, OL (No. 93 nationally, No. 14 Florida State)
Jamari Johnson, TE (transfer from Louisville)
Alex Harkey, OT (transfer from Texas State)
Isaiah World, OT (transfer from Nevada)
Behar Alexander, DT (transfer from USC)
Teran Johnson, CB (transfer from Northwestern)
Dillon Tieneman, S (transfer from Purdue)

Oregon will receive its second consecutive top-five recruit, led by two top-10 recruits - receiver Dakorien Moore and cornerback Naim Offord, the latter transferring from Ohio State before signing day. Cavalier Jaron Keawe Sagapolutela also transferred from California and could supplant Moore in the battle for the starting job in 2025.

The Ducks have also been aggressive on the transfer portal, especially in the trenches. Defenseman Bear Alexander should make an immediate impact on Lanning's defense, while Isaiah Ward and Alex Harkey will help replenish Oregon's offensive line.

Making their Big Ten debut, the Ducks will face an even easier schedule in 2024, especially if they can manage the early portion of the championship game.

On Sept. 20, Oregon hosts rival Oregon State before heading to Happy Valley to face Penn State in a rematch of the 2024 Big Ten championship game. If they can survive that, the Ducks can avoid facing Ohio State and Michigan State next season as they seek to become conference champions.

Oregon soccer 2025 - too early prediction and expert analysis
While the Ducks failed to realize their championship hopes, it's clear that Lanning is building something special in Eugene. He is one of the best recruiters in the country, consistently attracts transfers and has one of the best coaching staffs in the country.

That's why it's important not to overreact to how much Oregon is losing this offseason. Moore should be offensive coordinator Will Stein's next star QB, and the former five-star recruit has the talent to keep this offense afloat. The main concern is the losses on the offensive and defensive lines, but the addition of Alexander alongside Uiagalelei should give Oregon one of the most talented D-line duos in the Big Ten.

With an easier schedule in 2025, Oregon will have time to settle into their new starting lineup. Penn State and Indiana are two of the toughest games for the Ducks, so I'd seriously consider betting on the Over if the win total is set at 10.5 or lower.
