Celtic vs Bayern Munich forecast, expert bets and odds: Champions League knockout stage playoffs

Bayern Munich will host Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Celtic Park Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland. The visitors are big favorites in the first leg of the Champions League knockout phase playoffs.

It's a bit of a shock to see the German juggernaut having to play for its life before the Round of 16 as a contender. Although Bayern have not been at their best in the early stages, after a disastrous 3-0 defeat to Feyenoord on Matchday 7, they have reeled off four straight wins in all competitions.

Our prediction for Celtic vs Bayern: whether Vincent Kompany's team will be able to show their superiority again, and whether the reliable Harry Kane (again) will be able to score a goal.

Who will win the Celtic vs Bayern Munich match?

While success at home doesn't mean automatic Champions League glory, Bayern will be confident ahead of their match against the Scottish champions on Wednesday.

Remember when Bayern were unlucky enough to draw with Real Madrid or Manchester City. Instead, they will face Celtic, who they have yet to lose to in the Champions League. I expect them to take full advantage of the favorable draw.

Kompany's team is looking to avoid becoming the first Bayern team to lose four Champions League away games in one campaign.

Celtic's only win in 12 matches against a German team in European competition came against RB Leipzig in Week 4. But this is a very different scenario and with so much at stake, I expect Bayern to play to their strengths.

Bayern Munich are almost always at their best when it comes down to the wire. And in the match to reach the knockout round, the 'chips' will surely be on the line. Thanks to Kane's double, I believe the Germans will win 3-1. A winning bet of $10 will bring a profit of $9.52.

Best pick of the Celtic vs Bayern Munich matchup
Harry Kane - a goal at any time .

Kane scores goals with the same consistency that Bayern fans sing the dithyrambs of their favorite team. He has made a fine recovery from a recent injury and has scored five goals in his last three Bundesliga matches. He also fanned the old bag of onions in his previous Champions League match.

Kane has scored 28 goals in 28 games this season and has converted all of Bayern's penalties. While I'd love to see him score a double, I'd prefer the safer option of a single goal. The odds on him scoring at least two goals at FanDuel are +340.

FanDuel offers the best odds on both bets. If he scores one goal at any point, you'll make a profit of $7.41 on a $10 bet.
