Super Bowl 2025 Kickoff Odds: A History of Novelty Betting and How to Bet on Kickoffs

You've already won the national anthem and coin toss bets, now it's time to bet three-for-three. The 2025 Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles officially kicks off with kickoff.

Kickoff at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans is set for 6:30 PM ET (FOX), and we're ready to bring you the best odds for the Super Bowl kickoff.

By the time the game kicks off, there will be plenty of markets with Super Bowl kickoff odds. For some fans, this kickoff will be the beginning of the end of their hopes and dreams of one team winning.

Odds for the 2025 kickoff in the Super Bowl market
Odds according to our top Super Bowl betting sites as of Monday.

Right now, our top sports betting sites don't have any kickoff markets yet, but they will be appearing as we get closer to Super Bowl 2025.

Some of the markets we can expect to see include “Will the kickoff be kicked to the outback?”, “Which team will receive the kickoff?” and “Will the kickoff be returned for a touchdown?”.

How to bet on the start of the Super Bowl
The first step to betting on the Super Bowl kickoff is to choose a legitimate sportsbook and register. Many of our sites with the best sportsbook promotions will have lucrative Super Bowl related offers.

Finding the actual props is still half the battle. On most sites, you'll find the odds options for the kickoff in the Novelty, Specials or Game Props sections.

You'll need to select the market you want to bet on. Some options include whether the kickoff will be an outback kickoff, whether it will be returned for a touchdown, and which team will receive it. Confirm your bet with one of our top sports networks and you're all set.

The kickoff will open the game at the Super Bowl. By placing a bet, you will be able to watch it live in real time.

Most top sports betting sites will accept your bet almost immediately, although there may be slight delays given the intensity of the game during the Super Bowl.

When will the start of the Super Bowl match be determined?
The result of the coin toss will directly affect the kickoff and which team gets the ball. Kickoff at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET, but often in sporting events there are delays as pre-game ceremonies are delayed.

The outcome of the bout will be decided within seconds, even if the kick is returned for a touchdown.

Super Bowl kickoff betting history
Here is a look at the history of kickoff return betting on the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl 58: 49ers vs. Chiefs: Harrison Butker hits touchback
Super Bowl 57 Chiefs vs. Eagles: Harrison Butker kicks a touchback
Super Bowl 56 Rams vs. Bengals: Evan McPherson kicks touchback
Super Bowl 55 Chiefs vs. Buccaneers: Harrison Butker returns Tampa Bay's Jaydon Mickens' kick 26 yards for a touchback.
Forty-nine of 58 kickoffs in the Super Bowl have been returned, including 26 of the last 31.

However, there have been three consecutive kickoff returns for Tampa Bay, undoubtedly influenced by NFL rule changes. Five of the fumble returns in the past three decades have occurred in indoor stadiums, and this year's Super Bowl will also be played indoors.

What do the Super Bowl odds mean?
U.S. Odds Summary:
Negative Odds (-): Indicates the favorite and how much you need to bet to win $100. For example, -150 means you need to bet $150 to win $100.
Positive Odds (+): Indicates the underdog and how much you would win if you bet $100. For example, +200 means that a $100 bet will earn you $200 if the underdog wins.
When placing a bet, you will also usually come across the term “juice” or “vig” which is the commission of the sportsbook. Most bets are listed at -110 odds, which means you would have to bet $110 to win $100.
