Robinhood has signed an agreement with Ripple that could bring its roughly 29 million app users within reach of the XRP Ledger, CryptoSlate reported on Oct. 28.
What's in the deal
Two pieces matter here. One: Robinhood app access to RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin, is expected. Two: settlement on the XRP Ledger is planned. Both are forward-looking, so don't read this as users being able to tap in today.
RLUSD isn't starting from zero. It already trades on Bitstamp, which gives the token at least one established venue behind it.
The source material is thin. There are no launch dates, no fee terms, and no word on which Robinhood users, in which regions, get access first. The timeline is open.

Distribution is the hard part for any stablecoin. Issuing a token is easy. Getting it in front of tens of millions of retail accounts isn't. If Robinhood follows through, RLUSD gets a big on-ramp, and the XRP Ledger gets real settlement volume tied to a mainstream app.
